My husband was a pastor in a denomination. I was stuck with the formality of having so- called “pastor’s wife” and I lived a hypocritical life. When I heard a hymn: Let’s do the local church life’, the content of stanza two stirred in my heart. Through Christ versus Religion written by Witness Lee, I saw that in religion one speaks and everybody else listens and that in the Church, the Body of Christ, a lot of Christians as members of the Body function in an organic, spontaneous way, I was shocked. There are people who know Christ objectively as knowledge like those who know only the outside of a watermelon, but there are also people who know Christ subjectively by experiences like those who cut a watermelon open and eat the inside. When I saw that believers in the local church make the Lord Jesus their center and live for the Lord, I said, “ That’s it” and began to meet with the local church. How joyful it is to be saved from the position of a pastor’s wife and to participate in the local church as just a sister in the Lord. As Galatians 2:20 says, “it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me”, I want to know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.” (Philippians 3:10) I also want to be built up with other believers as God’s dwelling place which is His heart’s desire (Ephesians 2:22), depending on the Lord.
